One minute they're there...

I've been browsing various blogs that I follow this evening and looking at ones which haven't been updated in a while. There are a few blogs which I used to always look forward to reading when a new post appeared,  which I sometimes commented on, and whose writers occasionally commented on my posts.

One minute new posts are appearing semi-regularly, the next, nothing. No more updates, no comments, no more news of their lives. I go to their blog page and find the last post is one from a year ago, or two years ago or more. In a handful of cases the blog has been deleted entirely.

I find myself wondering about the writers. Why did they stop blogging? What's happened in their lives since their last post? Are they ok? Did they get bored of blogging? Did real life get in the way? Do they just not have anything to report? As I mostly follow blogs about older virgins I wonder if they have lost their virginity and are now in a relationship and don't feel a need to blog.

I wonder what happened to Jo at Pseudo Dating, to Silencio at Forever Single, to Anomylous at Kisses from God, to tbrooke at Different Kind of Fine, to Lady Waiting Impatiently at Lady Very Much in Waiting, to Skipping Along at Skipping Along, and to others who were there one minute and gone the next.

I wonder this too, it's one of the reasons I haven't started a blog-I'm so flaky sometimes :( I love reading others though :)

I often wonder the same thing. Hopefully, they are doing well.

Thanks for adding me to your blogroll! I would love to read updates from many of the bloggers you listed.

When I first started my blog I took into consideration that at some point I might not want to continue posting as frequently (for whatever reason) and didn't want it to taper off or read as abandoned. So I gave myself a 50 post limit. I figure I'd write my fill by then.

It's hard to imagine now since I have gotten used to posting weekly, but it was important for me, in the beginning, to have some sort of deadline to "get over it." Don't think at this point that I ever will.

I'll update, of course, if anything significant happens because I want my blog to eventually be a finished project. I understand that life doesn't have nice and tidy happily ever afters, but I will certainly try my best.

Hey! This is really random...I was just bored and browsing through old blogs I used to read to see if anyone still posts! I stopped blogging at Skipping Along a long time ago, huh? Well, since then, I've gotten into a serious relationship with a great guy who I'll probably marry someday...nearly two years and going strong =)

I guess I stopped blogging because the topic I was writing about (finding love) didn't really pertain to me anymore. Now and again I wish I had kept it up and had blogged throughout the getting to know each other stages...the first kisses, the first "I love you's," etc...but oh well I guess that's ancient history now.

I hope that everyone's doing well too! Now I'm going to look over your blog and see what I've missed =)

I've thought the same thing about some blogs, and I've done the same thing with my own blog. haha :)

I wondered the same thing about you--where did you go?--when I started reading later-in-life-virginity blogs last year before starting my own. I've been blogging for 11 months now, and it's been quite a journey! I'm glad you're blogging again as well!

It only occurred to me after I started blogging that I might at some point either not want to post or not need to post, so I didn't really have an "exit plan".

Reading other blogs that have tapered off makes me want that not happen to mine. I'd like to be able to publish a final "goodbye" post, or if I did end up disappearing for a couple of years I'd like to think I'd come back and update if anything significant happened. Like you, I like the idea of a finished project.

Hi there! It's good to hear from you and it's great to hear you're in a serious relationship! I understand what you mean about the topic you're writing about not pertaining to you anymore. I have been writing only intermittently because nothing has happened in terms of finding love - I haven't been on any dates, I'm not attracted to any men in my life, I'm not feeling particularly lonely. I have written about other things going on in my life when I've needed the therapy of blogging, but the "older virgin" aspect of the blog isn't at the forefront at the moment.

I've just seen your latest update - welcome back to blogging!

I have been more of a blog reader than a blog writer in the past year or two! I've been reading yours and finding it really interesting reading how things are going with you and B - it gives me a bit of an insight into what first time sex might be like.

Heya! Guess I'm one of those that suddenly stopped blogging. But strangely I decided to come by my old blog (for old times sake) and saw your message...

This is skipping along again...unfortunately my relationship that had such promise ended a few weeks ago. I think I may start blogging again. I'll update you if so!

Hi there Skipping Along. I'm sorry to hear that your relationship ended, it sounded like it was going so well :(
Do let me know if you start blogging again.
